This authentic and rare Louis Vuitton “Ideal” trunk (from French “Malle Idéale”), circa 1915's, features a very crisp stenciled monogram canvas, all brass hardware, leather and black lozine trims. This specific model was initially introduced as the ‘Perfect Trunk” or Elephant trunk because of its large and round leather handles. The double-topped wardrobe trunk opens like a giant toolbox and has retained the original monogram canvas finish. The fine details of the brass lock and drawbolts, metal binding, and elephant leather handles give this luxurious trunk a timeless feel. The trunk also contains two discrete interior compartments. This trunk is a standout piece on its own and a perfect accent for any space, perfect as a center piece, bed end or coffee table. Excellent condition considering age – Wears and marks, signs of use and travels. Very rare and desirable format.
